Successful Networking
Why do people worry so much about successful networking? Because successful
networking is a critical source of social capital--connections to others
and the resources those connections provide.
Most people know that they need social capital for their businesses or careers.
But very few know that they also need social capital to help deal with the stresses
of life, help them juggle work and family, add balance.
Why Americans Need a New Model of Successful Networking
The old model of successful networking, the '80s version of exchanging business
cards to get more sales leads, isn't working.
According to the BBC, the US ranked 150th out of 178 nations on the New Economic
Foundation's Happy Planet Index.
Entrepreneur magazine recently published an article about the social isolation
of American workers--because our social isolation and stress affect our work.
What was Entreprneur talking about? In a 2004 national survey, Duke University
reserachers found that 25% of Americans could cite no close confidants, almost
50% named two or fewer. Fully 80% of Americans confide only in family members.
The fact is, that leaves us vulnerable, because close personal ties are the
ones that help us survive a disaster, cope with the death of a loved one, juggle
work and family. You're not going to call your accountant if you get cancer.
We need a new model of successful networking. Successful networking means building
a complete, balanced network. Successful networking means building a network
to support your work and your life, to help you get ahead and get through.
The New Model of Successful Networking
At Optinet Resources, we've developed the new model of successful networking.
We want to use it to change your ideas about successful networking, your strategies
for successful networking, your definition of successful networking.
We want to show you how to use successful networking to support every aspect
of your life, and maybe even save it.
How Our Model of Successful Networking is Different
What makes our model different? We'll give you the whole truth about successful
networking. We'll show you how to build the world that can take you to the top
and help you survive the ride.
What qualifies us to do that? Do we know something about successful networking
that the others don't?
Absolutely. We've spent the last 25 years studying the science of successful
networking, finding out what successful networking is and how successful networks
operate. We've discovered the secrets to successful networking, to building
a social network that can help you find a job, get more satisfaction out of
the one you have, survive a disaster, cope with adversity. We know what kinds
of contacts do those different things and we know how to build those contacts.
That's what the science of successful networking is all about. And we're tired
of seeing that science lying in dusty academic journals. We want to use
it to help you network successfully. We want to help people use successful networking
to build better businesses, better careers, better lives.
